Special Olympics
We are very fortunate to host The Burlington Hammers curling team from Special Olympics to curl each Sunday evening at BGCC. This wonderful opportunity for our curling members to volunteer coach was brought forward by active members —Jane and Ian Hamilton who have been most instrumental in the organization and success of The Hammers. They have developed a group of very dedicated and kindly volunteers who come out on Sunday evenings to coach this team. It is a very rewarding experience to watch these volunteers work with the athletes each week. Thank you to Jane and Ian from all the volunteers and The Hammers. Despite a first short year in 2016, the 12 team members, who had not previously curled, have excelled in the sport and look forward to curling each and every week. We are pleased to note The Hammers will be returning in 2017 for the next curling season at BGCC.
